Krypton trailer (SyFy)

#krypton #superman

File this one under “interesting concept”.

According to Syfy, Krypton “will follow Superman’s grandfather – whose House of El was ostracized and shamed – as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice co-writer David S. Goyer will executive produce Krypton under his Phantom Four banner. Goyer also wrote the pilot alongside Ian Goldberg, who previously worked as a producer on Once Upon a Time and a writer on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Krypton will take place 200 years before the opening of Man of Steel. He went on to say while “it won’t be wall-to-wall visual effects every single moment” like Man of Steel, the show will “be digging into the characters and culture a lot more.

Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El: Superman’s grandfather and Jor-El’s father; athletic, quietly confident, and in his 20s. A younger version of the “grumpier” character from the comics.

Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod: A reluctant cadet and warrior in the Kryptonian military, in a clandestine, forbidden relationship with Seg-El.

Ian McElhinney as Val-El: Seg’s grandfather, who defied death by going to the Phantom Zone and is a staunch believer in space exploration.[2][5]

Elliot Cowan as Daron-Vex: The chief magistrate of Kandor, charged with defending Krypton’s oligarchy.

Ann Ogbomo as Alura Zod: The Primus of the Kryptonian military guild and mother of Lyta. Alura shares her first name with Alura Zor-El, the mother of Supergirl.

Rasmus Hardiker as Kem: An engineer and Seg’s best friend.

Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex: A junior magistrate and the daughter of Daron-Vex.

Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em: A “chiseled, twenty-something bad boy”.

The Defenders new trailer!

Check out the new Defenders trailer!

The new Defenders trailer dropped today! And I think it looks fantastic!  All of our favorite heroes are back in action to face new threats in NYC.  Sigourney Weaver plays the villain, Alexandra, presumably the big bad of the show.  I was wondering if she would be playing down her evilness, revealing her master plan during the second half of the show but it looks like she is evil from the jump.  That’s ok with me.  Looks like Misty Knight, Claire Temple and Colleen Wing also join the fray as well.

Can we talk for a second on how awesome Simone Missick is as Misty?  I am in love with her voice.  Her tone is commanding, with a little bit of “what the fuck is wrong with you” inflection thrown in for good measure.  Perfect casting of the Daughter of the Dragon.

Speaking of Daughters of the Dragon, do you guys and gals think we might see a spin off show with the same name featuring Misty and Colleen?

The limited series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand / Iron Fist, all reprising their roles from their individual series. Élodie Yung also stars as Elektra Natchios, reprising the role from Marvel’s Daredevil. Development of the miniseries began in late 2013, with Cox the first actor cast in May 2014, and Jones the final of the title four cast in February 2016. Petrie and Ramirez joined as showrunners in April, after serving in the same role on the second season of Daredevil. However, Petrie left as showrunner at the start of filming in New York City in October 2016; filming concluded in March 2017.

The Defenders will consist of eight episodes, and is scheduled to be released August 18, 2017.

First pictures from Marvel/Netflix Defenders! + returning cast members confirmed

Some set pictures from The Defenders have hit the Twitterverse!  The first set of pics shows Misty Knight and Jessica Jones meeting on the street.  Perhaps for the first time?  Jessica looks in pretty rough shape (more than usual?) with blood splattered on her face and clothes.  Misty has an incredulous look on her face so i’m guess this is their first meeting or maybe Misty has figured out that Jessica is a metahuman.  What do you think?

Also from the twitterverse….

The official twitter for the Defenders has been dropping title cards for returning cast members from previous Marvel/Netflix shows and it looks like Patsy, Stick, and Claire are all set to return.

Returning with them are Jeri Hogarth, Foggy Nelson, Karen Page and Malcolm from Daredevil and Jessica Jones respectively.  When will Luke Cage, Danny Rand and Colleen Wing show up?

Marvel’s The Defenders, or simply The Defenders, is an upcoming American web television miniseries developed for Netflix by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise and is the culmination of a series of interconnected shows from Marvel and Netflix. The miniseries is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, with Petrie and Ramirez serving as showrunners.

The limited series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand / Iron Fist, all reprising their roles from their individual series. Development of the miniseries began in late 2013, with Cox the first actor cast in May 2014, and Jones the final of the title four cast in February 2016. Petrie and Ramirez joined as showrunners in April, after serving in the same role on the second season of Daredevil, and filming began in New York City that October.

The Defenders will consist of eight episodes, and is scheduled to be released in 2017.

The Verge reported that Jeph Joeb, executive vice president of Marvel Television announced the gang before bringing out yet another surprise in the form of a villain.

“We’ve not told you who the villain of the Defenders is,” Loeb said in a video uploaded by Netflix, which elicited boos from the crowd. “And the reason is for that,” Loeb continued, “is because we needed to find somebody that could take on all these guys. She doesn’t require any introduction anywhere she goes in the world. She’ll be joining The Defenders cast. Ladies and gentlemen, it is my distinct pleasure to introduce Miss Sigourney Weaver.”

Weaver came out onstage and hugged her future cast-mates as the audience went wild.

5 REASONS WHY LAVALANTULA IS GOING TO KICK ASS

Lavalantula. It’s erupting with excitement!

OH. MY. GOD.

It’s like someone reached into my dreams and pulled out a tangled mix of nightmares, phobias and nostalgia.  The tagline listed on IMDB is hilariously succinct.  “Fire burns… Lava bites.”  This is pure gold and I believe that SyFy has another cult “hit” on their hands.   It’ll probably be more like cult shit, but with the some of the cast of Police Academy in this movie, I don’t know how that could ever be.

Michael Winslow, Steve Guttenberg and Marion Ramsey

Speaking of the cast of Police Academy… When the hell did Steve Guttenberg get so swole?

Welcome back Michael Winslow, my favorite voicebox of the 80’s, Marion Ramsey and pre-teen boner inducer Leslie Easterbrook.

Now who’s going to save me??…in Lavalantula

This movie is going to kick ass because it has 5 simple things.

  1. Spiders, fire, a shotgun toting Steve Guttenberg and the Police Academy franchise stars.
  2. It has Michael Winslow making machine gun sound effects.
  3. It happens in the same universe as Sharknado. (which has the hilarious sub-title “Oh Hell No!”)
  4. That kid from the Sandlot will probably be killed.  And it’ll be awesome.
  5. The director of the movie, Mike Mendez, knows everything there is to know about spiders because he directed the other cult “hit” movie, BIG ASS SPIDER! (2013)

THIS MOVIE IS ERUPTING WITH AWESOME.

“That’s really super, Supergirl”

My Heart Explodes

I am very excited for this! My comic book nerd friends – not so much. Well, that’s only because, apparently, they don’t like girls. They’d much rather watch Superman. Or Batman. Or Iron Man. Or Captain America… man. I’d rather watch girls. Really super girls, in fact. Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and the lovely Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers. It kind of looks like Smallvillemeets The Devil Wears Prada.

Chyler Leigh, by the way, played punk rocker June Tuesday (here) on the short-lived Fox TV series That ’80s Show (2002). I didn’t like that show much, but I loved that character a lot. The first time I saw Leigh as Dr. Lexie Grey on Grey’s Anatomy, I said, “Hey, that’s June Tuesday!”

Anyway, Supergirl premieres…

Deadpool Casts Newcomer as Obscure Mutant Character

by: S. Scott Stanikmas

Just days after Bryan Singer cast unknown actress Lana Condor as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse, Tim Miller has done the same and cast a relative newbie as an obscure mutant character in his upcoming Deadpool film.

Brianna Hildebrand has nabbed the role of teenage mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character was an original creation of writer Grant Morrison on his New X-Men run. She was introduced and summarily killed early in his run.

It’s unknown at this time how much of the character will transfer from page to screen. The comic book version was a pale Goth kid with precognitive and telepathic powers. It is being reported that Hildebrand is currently going through stunt training, so it’s a good bet that NTW will do more than just sit on the sidelines and mess with people’s minds.

Deadpool will be Hildebrand’s…
