16 Smashing Luke Cage, Hero for Hire Covers!
A wrongfully charged inmate in Seagate Prison named Carl Lucas undergoes a scientific experiment. When a racist prison guard tampers with the machine, Lucas develops some supernatural side-effects! Namely, enhanced strength and bulletproof skin! Luke Cage is born.
When his Hero for Hire service falls short, Luke Cage goes looking for an office. While searching, he is attacked by hit men hired by Diamond Back! Luke Cage exacts revenge. If he can bring Diamond Back to the authorities, he may be able to wipe his record clean and live as a fully free man. But Diamond Back won’t go down without a really good fight!
Luke Cage is visited by Owen Ridgley, a man who informs the Hero for Hire about a terrorist plot. Gideon Mace plans on blowing up each bridge and power station in Manhattan! His goal? To shake the very foundation of the United States! And Luke Cage is running out of time.
A supernatural being dubbed the ‘Phantom of 45th Street’ creeps into the Gem Theater! Luke Cage wakes to a fight he cannot win. The following day, Cage is hired to investigate the Phantom by someone else who has also been haunted. Can Luke uncover the secret of the Phantom before another night of midnight mischief?
Luke Cage learns about a band of criminals led by a woman named Black Mariah. Mariah’s thieves pose as ambulance drivers and steal corpses to loot them of possessions! Disgusted by these acts, the Hero for Hire decides to give the city a criminal shakedown on the house.
Luke Cage is hired by Catherine Forsythe, a young woman who believes someone is trying to kill her wealthy grandfather. But when Cage travels to the Forsythe mansion in the country, he runs into deadly robots wearing suits of armor!

Luke Cage is hired by a mysterious businessman to track a couple of thugs who have stolen technology from the client’s personal cache. Cage accepts the job, but quickly finds out the ‘thugs’ are actually robots! Caught off-guard, Cage struggles put up a fight! Plus, the appearance of a surprise super-villain!

Marvel Comics Presents: Weapon X is the chronicle of Wolverine’s days with the Weapon X project, from the bonding of adamantium to his bones to his escape from the project, were revealed in the “Weapon X” story arc, written and illustrated by Barry Windsor-Smith and published in installments in the anthology series Marvel Comics Presents in 1991.
Weapon X is a fictional clandestine government genetic research facility project appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are conducted by the Canadian Government’s Department K, which turns willing and unwilling beings into living weapons. The project often captures mutants and experiments on them to enhance their superpowers, turning them into weapons. They also mutate baseline humans. The Weapon X Project produced Wolverine, Leech, and other characters such as Deadpool and Sabretooth.
The story intertwines with some of Wolverine’s past, and eventually ends with Wolverine’s rampage being described in full, only to be revealed as the work of a Virtual reality system which actually predicted the events of Wolverine’s escape which then occur in real life moments later.
In this classic story, Experiment X, or the brutal adamantium-skeletal bonding process, (originally published in Marvel Comics Presents #72-84 in 1991) was eventually revealed as part of the “Weapon X Project.” Grant Morrison’s New X-Men in 2002 further revealed that Weapon X was the tenth of a series of such projects, collectively known as the Weapon Plus Program, and the X in “Weapon X” referred not (or not exclusively) to the letter X, but to the Roman numeral for the number 10. The first project, Weapon I, pertained to the Super Soldier Project that created Captain America.

Deadpool Casts Newcomer as Obscure Mutant Character

Just days after Bryan Singer cast unknown actress Lana Condor as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse, Tim Miller has done the same and cast a relative newbie as an obscure mutant character in his upcoming Deadpool film.
Brianna Hildebrand has nabbed the role of teenage mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character was an original creation of writer Grant Morrison on his New X-Men run. She was introduced and summarily killed early in his run.
It’s unknown at this time how much of the character will transfer from page to screen. The comic book version was a pale Goth kid with precognitive and telepathic powers. It is being reported that Hildebrand is currently going through stunt training, so it’s a good bet that NTW will do more than just sit on the sidelines and mess with people’s minds.
